into the hills

Back from my trip to the Hills. I wanted to say Dharamshala/ Mcleodganj, but it wasn’t just these two places, it was the hills. We had a stopover at Solan and that qualifies it for more than a simple one destination trip in my mind. For starters, not bad on the whole motion sickness front. Thanks to the Adult Arm bands and the medicine that I took beforehand, my road journey was relatively fine. Also, clubbed were spirits and good company and some sleep induced by some very tasty food and the overdose of spirits.

And now about Mcleod. The place I have dreaded going for so long. I last went in 2013 and ever since then I thought that going there again would be reliving the first time, which was not worth the pain that it would accompany. However, it wasn’t so. It was more like a happy recollection about two people who were newly in love and were happy in their simple plan of going to Mcleod for a few days. It was nice to revisit some of the same spots, without any untoward feelings and to just simply be able to smile to myself thinking about those times.

Having said that, I was grumpy too, quite a lot. When one has too many expectations in life, which is the definition of the way my mind works, one ends up being grumpy more often than not. The expectations never get fulfilled, and the sullen mood soon follows. But then, in the grand scheme of things, the sullenness was missed by almost all, or ignored. Be that as it may, its not yet haunting me.

And the highlight of the trip was the walk in the rain, downhill, with the black umbrella, while it was pouring like crazy.
