Non Consequential firsts

A life of Firsts*
was possible in time when firsts were the Firsts

But by now, all the firsts have been taken

Recorded and cataloged in record books and catalogs and memories
as a reminder to all of all the firsts,

leaving behind a sub category of firsts
at best being non consequential firsts.

So, I have missed my chance of being a first of consequence. But, I am a non consequential first of my family to have stepped out of the city to study. A non consequential first of my family to have remained unmarried till the age of 34. A non consequential first of my family to earn from other than the family business. A non consequential first of my family to sleep by my self. A non consequential first of my family to live by myself. A non consequential first to have her heart broken multiple times. A non consequential first who listens to books, eats books and at times reads them too. A non consequential first who likes her spirits smoky and single grained. A non consequential first to have traveled to the land of the Big Apple.

Though First, yet non consequential.
