When inspiration strikes, act on it.
I know that everyone has to die, one day or another. A life that begins has to have an end. But how to overcome the despair that accompanies that absolute loss. The finality of it. And yet..
The story that started with the first breath, can take any form which the author who is writing it wants it to have. Happy, sad, demure, robust, chirpy, pretty, hypocrite, dark, breezy, lovelost, romantic and numerous other adjectives, some that need not have any name. But once in a while comes such an author who does not shy away from writing about life that is surrounded by death. And yet does so in such a manner that one ends up marveling at the ability of the human spirit to continue surviving, thriving, laughing, living, despite being surrounded by loss, by death, by goodbyes that are for forever, by circumstances that are bleak and challenging.
This was a good one, A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. A new favourite and one that needs to be recommended.
