Why do I want something bad for someone else

Mostly cause I don’t like that someone and per my view that someone does not deserve good and hence deserves the opposite. 

But then am I not holding on to negative energy

No, cause I am in fact being honest about myself at such times and well that is okay to the extent that I am not spending energy in being someone that I am not. Also, thinking does not mean doing. And as long as I am not actively undercutting them or coming in the way of their progress, it cannot be said that I brought it on them. I am not that important.
